Offset printing and finishing guidelines
Screen ruling: not too fine (80-100 lpi) since it is a textured paper. Inks: avoid overload, especially in dark midtones areas. The use of UCR is recommended. Use compressible blankets to allow good contact with the sheet surface in order to achieve the appropriate transfer of ink, in the "peaks" as well as in the "valleys". The paper is produced in an alkaline medium, reason why the drying process of the inks is guaranteed even if conditions are minimally met. Excellent results have been achieved with the use of normal inks as well as "anti-skin" (the use of anti-rub varnish is necessary in this case). Avoid the use of anti-oxidising. Use the least possible amount of water. The pH of the fountain water must be carefully maintained. No less than 5.3, to not interfere with the drying process of the inks, nor with the paper surface (acid-free). Add the adequate solution to the fountain water to avoid a pH increase. Anti set-off spray: remember that the more texture there is, the more anti set-off powder will be necessary, since contact between the sheets of the pile will be more concentrated in a few points. Hot foil blocking and Blind embossing: suitable for these processes. Die cutting: the paper is free from abrasive materials for longer-lasting blades and hollow punches. Glueing: we recommend the use of Casein adhesive, adapting it to environmental conditions. Clean and dry the packaging carefully. The speed of the drying process must be adapted to the length of the exit path of the labeling machine. In the design, avoid forms with multiple vertices. When applying the adhesive, it must be extended to the border of the label. Do not use UV varnish. In order to increase the rubbing resistance, varnish only with over-printing varnish or water acrylic. It is advisable to perform previous tests. |
